The guitar in the picture above is a refurbished guitar. Refurbished guitars look like a brand new guitar with no visible defects short of a “used” stamp on the back of the headstock and a new serial number, unless otherwise noted. This guitar comes from MIRC (Musical Instrument Reclamation Center) in Franklin, TN. They enable us to carry name brand guitars in incredibly good condition at very reasonable prices.

MIRC buys guitars (prototypes, overstocks, discontinued models, and guitars that did not make it through quality control for one reason or another) from the manufacturer. When the guitar arrives at MIRC, it will be stamped USED on the headstock to identify it as a refurbished guitar at the request of the manufacturer. The guitar will be inspected, any repairs necessary will be completed including replacing parts with either the original parts that came on the guitar or equal and the guitar will be given a thorough setup and a new serial number before being shipped to us.

If a guitar needs a repair MIRC will not put a lower quality component in the guitar than what the manufacturer originally specified. Many times, there will be no repair visible. We fully disclose any structural repairs that do or do not show in our descriptions. Some guitars will not be stamps “used” or have a new serial number. This is due to the agreement that MIRC has with the manufacturer. We aim to be completely transparent about the history of our guitars.

Many of these guitars did not make the manufacturing quality control due to a finish blemish or buff mark. Most of the guitars we have received from MIRC other than the used stamp, we could not see why it didn’t make the cut. These are great guitars at great savings. Any visible imperfection or repair will be in the listing. MIRC does not give us a list of what or if anything has been done. We do not look up the factory site to see if anything has been changed on the guitar. Although these guitars are technically new (never been sold) they are considered used.
